The very first Dior sunglasses frames, made in 1969, were actually produced in celluloid: Optyl was not yet ready for large-scale commercial production. The first true Optyl resin model was a round, chunky frame with an embossed metal plaque with a paisley-like motif, the official start of the Optyl era for the fashion house.
