Born in Hamburg in 1933, Lagerfeld moved to Paris at a very young age, where he won the prestigious Woolmark Prize and began a career that defined him as a "fashion mercenary" for his ability to work with multiple fashion houses simultaneously. In 1954, he began working for Balmain and Jean Patou. A model that bears the signature of someone who spanned six decades of fashion without ever stopping.
