The name Persol comes from the contraction of "per il sole" (for the sun): the first smoked lenses were conceived in the 1920s from pure silica crystal, designed to absorb sun rays and protect drivers and aviators. The brand's connection to cinema is equally historic: in 2010, Persol celebrated the 50th anniversary of Fellini's La Dolce Vita with a collection dedicated to the charm of 1960s Rome.
