The Carol model was born in the 1980s as an exclusive design promoted by supermodel Carol Alt, who appeared on over 500 covers including Vogue, Elle, and Sports Illustrated. Persol's partnership with Alt marked the first time a brand style became so closely associated with a single person, even surpassing the link between the Persol 714 and Steve McQueen.
