Robert La Roche, a Viennese designer active from 1973 to 1999, is considered one of the absolute protagonists of 20th-century eyewear: his glasses have been worn by stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Meryl Streep, Yoko Ono, and Andy Warhol. In 2016, the MAK in Vienna dedicated its first major museum retrospective to him, exhibiting pieces from the 1,200 models created during his career.
